Mental Health & Wellbeing

Looking after children's mental health and well-being is one of our top priorities during our Forest School sessions in the woods. We aim to try and provide the children in our care with a set of ‘tools’ that they can draw upon when dealing with challenging circumstances.


With the pandemic pressures, being at home and 'cabin fever' setting in, you and your family’s mental health may be affected. As such, we thought it would be a good idea to put together some mental health resources that you may wish to access when times are hard. Please remember that these are just for guidance and if you are really concerned about a family member or yourself to contact you GP straight away.


Sam Taylor-Colls PhD is a Research Psychologist in Children and Families who has been working with vulnerable children and families for the last fifteen years.  She is a member of staff at FSUK


Sam has successfully written and completed her PhD looking at the relationship between a child’s social environment and their emotional development. Before joining St John’s Sam worked collaboratively with health care professionals, local authorities and educational establishments to nurture and protect children’s emotional well-being.
